D. TERRENCE FOSTER, M.D., MA, FAAPMR, DABPM
​
DR. D. TERRENCE FOSTER, MD, is a double board-certified medical doctor. He is a best-selling, multiple award-winning author, a Public Speaker, and a philanthropist. Dr. Foster is also a consultant in Stress, Pain, and Rehabilitation Medicine Management.
​
He is the author or co-author of several scientific articles. His publications include three best-selling books: The Foster's Opioid Addiction Classification Status Guide, The Opioid Epidemic Consumers & HealthCare Guide, and his latest, The Stress Book: Forty-Plus Ways to Manage Stress & Enjoy Your Life.
This book is A RECIPIENT OF MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED (100-PLUS) LITERARY AWARDS, including the Independent Author Network (IAN) 2022 first-place Nonfiction Book of the Year and Outstanding Creator Award winner for Best Nonfiction Book, spring 2023. It made the shortlist of finalists for the 2023 Eric Hoffer Award Grand Prize Book of the Year and Goody Business Book Awards-Top Impact Author Award-2023.

​Dr. Foster's humble beginning started in poverty as one of eight children of a single mother. His grandaunt, who had little or no formal education, raised him. He graduated from Yallahs Secondary (High) School and attended Morant Bay High School in St. Thomas, Jamaica, West Indies, where he graduated. He later attended the University of the West Indies, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Special Chemistry with honors, and then received a full academic fellowship to the City University of New York graduate school in the USA to study chemistry and obtain a Master's Degree.

​Dr. Foster graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, New York, earning his Doctor of Medicine. His medical training was completed at Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein Hospital in New York, where he completed his internship. Residency at New York University Medical Center/Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine-Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee – Fellowship, Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

​​Dr. Foster worked as an Attending Physician and Clinical Instructor at Emory University Hospitals, Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital, and the Center for Rehab Medicine.
​
​He initiated and helped found the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at Southern Regional Health System in Riverdale, GA, which opened in 2004. He became its first medical director and served in that role for ten years.
​
​Dr. Foster has medical staff privileges at several medical centers in Georgia. He is the Medical Director of the Center for Pain and Rehab Medicine & Personal Injury Solution in Stockbridge, GA. His primary focus is Interventional Pain, Addiction Medicine, and Stress Management. He is also a member of several medical associations.
​
​He is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is Board Certified in Pain Medicine and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine.

​​ Dr. Foster's community service, leadership, and philanthropic work extend over 20 years. He is a founding member and a past president of the Morant Bay High School Alumni Association – Atlanta Chapter, serving as vice president for four years, President for four years, and board member for two years. He is a strong supporter of many charitable organizations.
​
He has served or is currently serving on the board of several nonprofit organizations. In addition to receiving numerous literary awards, he has also received many philanthropic, public service, and professional recognitions. The most recent (December 2022), receiving a proclamation from the State of Georgia "as an Outstanding Georgia Citizen....a Goodwill Ambassador," a Caribbean American Heritage Honoree in June 2025, and inducted into the Jollywood Jamaica Hall of Fame in 2025.

He is also the Chairman and CEO of the D. Terrence Foster Foundation Inc. This organization celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2022. It has recently adopted a Health Center in Yallahs, St. Thomas, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in Jamaica. The Vision of the D Terrence Foster Foundation Inc. is to provide healthcare and education for those underserved globally. It focuses on the global development, enhancement, and promotion of healthcare and education, emphasizing our society's underserved and less privileged.
